Day 1 : Sail across Canaima Lake and Behold its Wonderful Waterfalls.

This day, we will visit Canaima National Park, one of the largest national parks in the planet, named a World Heritage Site by Unesco. It is renowned for being a natural reserve that has abrupt relief special and unique around the world, the tepuis, which are a kind of table-top mountain millions of years old, with vertical walls and almost flat tops. These constitute a unique biological environment and are also of great geological interest. Their sheer cliffs and waterfalls create spectacular landscapes. We leave the Posada at 7:00 a.m. for a 15-minute drive to Ciudad Bolívar airport. Next, board your plane to Canaima. This flight takes 1 hour 15 min, and the luggage weight allowance is up to 10 kg per traveller. On your arrival in Canaima, you’ll be free the rest of the morning. Lunch will be served at your camp in Canaima. In the afternoon, we will go for a boat ride across the Canaima Lake and see the Ucaima, Wadaima and Hacha waterfalls. Then, we can visit Anatoly Island, and walk to La Playita (small beach) where you can go swimming and discover the Sapo and Sapito waterfalls. Besides, you can go swimming in the pool under the waterfalls. Length of visit: about 2h (1h walking).
Meals: (-L-D)
Accommodation: Depending on the weather conditions, you can stay overnight at a camp located on the Anatoly island, opposite Canaima waterfalls; here you'll sleep in bed or in a hammock (cold water and electricity at night), or you could also stay at Kavac, a village within the Park (cold water, bedrooms, electricity)
Communication: Partial mobile network.
Transport: Cessna aircraft

Be carefull: For the Angel Falls you are not allowed to carry more than 10Kg of luggage per person. You can leave the rest of your luggate at your “posada” in Ciudad Bolivar.

Day 2 : A Boat Ride down Carrao and Churrun Rivers, towards the Angel Falls

Angel Falls is the world's highest uninterrupted waterfall, with a height of 979 metres (3,212 ft.). The falls are along a fork of the Rio Kerepacupai Meru which flows into the Churun River, a tributary of the Carrao River, itself a tributary of the Orinoco River. In the morning, you’ll be transferred to the little port of Ucaima. Once here, we will go for a four hour boat ride on the Carrao and Churrun rivers. We will pass by the Ratón Island, and continue all the way to the area around the Angel Falls. Finally, when we start going through the rapids, you may be asked to disembark.
Meals: ( B-L-D)
Accommodation: Sleep in hammock at night (equipped with a mosquito net) at the foot of the Angel Falls, cold water and no electricity.
Communication: No network.
transport: Motorboat

Important remark on dry season: The itinerary by pirogue, from Canaima to Angel Falls, going along the Tepuy Auyantepuys, is a wonderful trip. At the base of a 1km high cliff of, through many waterfalls, you’ll find the Angel Falls at the end of the itinerary, the path is beautiful. The river, which goes along this face, is on the 2/3 of its lenght a large river, accessible the whole year. But the last 1/3 of the nautical itinerary is done on a small branch of the river, and sometimes due to lack of water, this crossing is impossible (from mid-January to mid-April). If this last segment is too dry, the nautical itinerary stops close to the junction between the principal river and the second branch. A base camp will be improvised at the water-front for a night (Orquidea Island). If the access to the 1/3 of the itinerary is not possible, you will not see the Angel Falls. In order to see the highest waterfall of the world during the dry season, we always include a flight over the Angel Falls.

Day 3 : Hike to the Foot of the World’s Highest Waterfall, and Return to Canaima

We will have to leave camp in the early morning and walk for 1h 30 min in order to arrive at the foot of the highest waterfall in the world and see it at sunrise! Caution: You will have to be aware of the roots and other obstacles that are difficult to see on the path at that time of day. Note: We could walk to the Angel Falls the day before at the end of the afternoon only if you reached the base camp early enough. After visiting the falls, we will walk through the Woods back to the base camp. Then, we will take a 4-hour boat ride back to Canaima Lake. Next, you will flight back to Ciudad Bolivar at the end of the morning or at the beginning of the afternoon, and finally be transferred to your posada in Ciudad Bolívar.
Meals: (B-)
Accommodation:none.
Communication: Mobile network, 3G & WiFi.
Transport: Boat and Cessna aircraft

Important: the order of the excursions in the Angel Falls might be changed depending on the weather.

Important note regarding the Angel Falls guides: For obvious reasons, the Venezuelan government ask travel agencies to give priority to work with the native guides of the Canaima area, which are Venezuelan indigenous people. It is important that travellers take into account that the culture of these people teaches them to be honest, healthy and discreet individuals, and that for this reason, they are particularly shy. We recommend that travellers do not hesitate to make the first move when they want to have something explained, in order to establish contact with a rich human ancient culture.
